Service to others is a vital part of the life of First United Church of Christ.  We give generously to many worthy projects through our Benevolence envelope collections.  But we also strive to do more than just give our money – we also provide opportunities to give of ourselves.  Some of these opportunities include:

  • Christmas gifts for Partners in Hope families as well as Homebase Headstart children and their families
  • Easter baskets for Troy’s Headstart children and our shut-ins
  • Thanksgiving baskets for Partners in Hope families
  • The Backpack program providing food for children in Troy each weekend
  • Volunteer for Troy Lunch Club in the summer
  • Provide a home for Boy Scouts Troop 5
  • Support the Family Abuse Shelter, FISH, Lincoln Community Center, the food Pantry, and the UCC Disaster Ministries
  • Monthly Bingo sessions for the residents of Troy Center
  • Our ‘Relay for Life’ team and ‘Walk to End Alzheimer’s’ team
  • Monthly contact with our shut-ins by our Deaconesses
