Pastor Lauren arrived in Troy in 2012. Born and raised in Humboldt County, California, Lauren was born and raised the amazing northern California coast, with its rocky seashore and towering Redwood trees. She is a graduate of Pacific School of Religion. Before serving here in Troy, Lauren served as the pastor of Condon United Church of Christ in Condon, OR (10 years) and as associate pastor at Exeter Congregation Church in Exeter, NH (7 years). Before entering the ministry, Lauren served as director of a preschool that was a part of a comprehensive drug-treatment program in Oakland, CA and the director of a therapeutic preschool in Eureka, CA.
Pastor Lauren is unabashedly crazy about her cats, has an interest in all things Scottish, and enjoys traveling to new places, near and far.
As one who has always found a great deal of truth in the writings of Frederick Buechner, there is one particular Buechner quote that particularly rings true of my own calling. He writes, “The place God calls you to is the place where your deep gladness and the world’s deep hunger meet.” I consider it a privilege to have lived into my calling in a variety of ways throughout my lifetime, both within the church and in secular settings. While Buechner was referring to the individual, the same is true of the local church. As a church called by God, we must continually seek out and find where our deep gladness, passion and gifts lie and seek God’s guidance on how to use them in order to best meet the deep hunger of our community and beyond.
