Children and Youth
Both children and youth are able to attend camp at Templed Hills in Bellville, Ohio. Each year, there are a variety of themed camps. In past years, choices have ranged from sports camp to choir camp to even Grandparents camp where children can attend camp with their grandparents! Friendships with other children and youth from all over the state are formed at camp as they are able to connect over common interests.
When Youth are in junior high school, they are able to go through confirmation. Alongside a chosen adult mentor, they are able to learn more about their faith and grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ.
As of November 2019, our youth group has joined with the youth group at First United Methodist Church.
TFYG (Troy First Youth Group) provides a safe and fun environment for our youth where they can be themselves, have some fun, and, of course, grow in their faith. The goal is to equip our youth and teach them that all things are possible with Christ who strengthens us. It’s not about what they cannot do, but what amazing things they will do with God. At Troy First Youth, adult leaders provide examples for our young believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith, and in purity, and also show them practical ways that they can live like that as well.
Adult Sunday School Class begins at 9 am. This class varies in its curriculum, sometimes following the weekly scripture readings for worship and other times, utilizing a book discussion format.
Seasonal Adult Studies
It has become a tradition here at First UCC to have a Lenten Study each Wednesday throughout the Season of Lent. Gathering together, we have a time of discussion and study on the year’s chosen material. And this year, we also added a very well-received autumn adult study that met through the months of October and November.
