Volunteers . . .
We need your gifts and talents to assist the leadership during this transition time. We need some help to stabilize and inspire the membership and this is how you can help. Please volunteer to be a part of the following committees, projects and activities.
Worship Committee: A group of members that becomes actively involved in the heart of worship at our services. A committee that works with the Pastor, the organist, the choir, the altar committee, the ushers, the audio technician, the deacons & deaconesses and input from our congregation about what would make the worship experience more meaningful to them. Please contact Robin Bigelow, Moderator, if you desire to be part of this group.
Stewardship Committee: A group of members will be using UCC materials to develop a stewardship program that provides stewardship education to the members for the fall stewardship program with the assistance of the Finance Board. Please contact Bruce Davidson if you wish to be a part of this group.
Web site Manager: A person(s) to manage the First UCC web site, updating the information with input from the council, boards and project leaders. Contact Sherry Scheuerman if you wish to use your talents to keep the members and community informed about what’s happening at First UCC.
Prayer Partner with Kajiampau Church in Kenya: A group of members to be a part of the prayer partnership with this church in Kenya. Copies of the letter that was sent to the church with the delegation to Rubate in June are in the parlor. The letter introduced first UCC to this church and provided a list of our prayer needs. We have received a response letter (copies in Parlor) from them with a list of their prayer needs. Please take some time to look at these letters and prayerfully consider being a prayer partner with the Kajiampau Church. Prayer is powerful. It changes lives. Prayer brings the light of hope.
If you are interested in being part of this group, contact Robin Bigelow.

Back Pack
We had our organizational meeting August 24, 2010 and all went very well. We have 4 teams that have signed up for packing for the entire school year. There are two weeks that do not have a team signed up for; they are October 14th and April 29th. Trish and Dave Berry will continue to pick up our supplies. Jack and Cindy Arthur will continue delivering to the schools. Our team leaders are Joann Arthur, Robin Bigelow, Darlyn Stradling and Linda Slonaker. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns and A BIG THANK YOU to each of you.

Work Days at Church Camp
Work Days are Saturday, September 25th at Pilgrim Hills and Saturday, October 2nd at Temple Hills. If you are interested in helping at either one of these work days see Stephany Deeter for more information. It’s a great way for you to also see the camps where our kids have such a great time during the summer at camp.
Council News . . .
The vote by the membership on the revision to the constitution will be at the Congregational Meeting on October 17th. The Proposed revision is in the July Messenger. It will be reprinted in the October Messenger.
Student Pastor Intern, Terri Legge will begin her time with us on September 14th. An in-care committee will work with her to assist her during her time as a Student Pastor Intern, similar to a Student teacher in the school system. Doug Antonides, Betsy Feeser, Martha Behrens and Jack C. Arthur are the in-care committee. Terri will be providing 12-15 hours a week of service from September until May. Please welcome her to our church family.
